Why a Distance Reiki Course?

But when done right, distance Reiki training is actually equal, and can be superior, to in-person Reiki training.

And it’s not just Reiki training that is preferable when taken at a distance, it’s a trend in education of all sorts. In fact, the National Center for Education Statistics reports that a third of college students are now taking online courses.¹

Time and again I’ve watched in-person students come for a weekend class, only to forget the symbols and techniques months later. During the Certified Reiki Practitioner Course, You’ll Be Certified in Both Reiki Levels I and II

This training gives you a great foundation and will allow you to work with clients professionally, including animals, as well as to heal yourself (which is so important). 

Once you complete the Certified Reiki Practitioner Course, you’ll receive an invitation to enroll in the final two levels of Reiki, allowing you to become a Certified Reiki Master.

Inside Reiki Level I

During Reiki Level I, you’ll schedule and receive your first Reiki attunement. From there on out, you’ll be able to channel Reiki for the rest of your life.

You’ll learn how to give Reiki both to yourself and others through the laying on of hands. You’ll also learn how Reiki works, the history of Reiki, the meaning and importance of the Reiki Principles, and about our physical and energetic anatomy.

Why Get Reiki Training?

One of the best things about Reiki is that it promotes both stress-relief and relaxation. This stress-free space of peace, calm, and relaxation that Reiki creates actually encourages healing for yourself and your clients.

Reiki is holistic which means that it synergistically works on the body, mind, and spirit, creating balance within each individual system, as well as amongst the systems as a whole.

During the Reiki healing process, Reiki helps us to release and remove the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual blocks that lead to dis-ease in the first place. A full Reiki treatment also clears and balances the chakras, and rebalances the flow of Ki around the body.

Well, one of the things that sets Reiki apart from other healing modalities is the fact that you receive an attunement during your Reiki training. 

An attunement is a sacred process wherein the Reiki Teacher actually transmits the ability to use Reiki to the student. 

You must receive an attunement from a Reiki Teacher in order to be able to practice Reiki. But that’s okay! Receiving an attunement is a really easy thing for a student to do where you lie down or sit comfortably in a gentle, meditative state.

That’s right, you get to sit back and receive the attunement, getting you the ability to channel Reiki, while I do all the “work!” (Don’t worry – I love it!)

This Reiki attunement automatically activates healing Universal life force energy to come out of your hands to be used whenever you need it without ever depleting your own energy stores so that you can heal yourself on all levels, as well as support the healing of others. 

And you get to receive two attunements with the Practitioner Course – and four with the Master Course. You get one attunement for each level for which you’re registered! You can schedule them and I’ll send each one to you in real-time as you progress through the course.

The Reiki attunement also sets up a sort of one-way-street of energy where you don’t need to worry about picking up negative energy from your clients. That’s something really unique in the energy healing world! With Reiki, there’s only ever high vibe energy flowing and keeping both you and your client safe while promoting deep and lasting healing.

After you receive your attunement, you’ll be able to channel Reiki for the rest of your life with very little effort on your part other than your intention.

How I Used Reiki to Heal From a Disabling Illness

Eventually, while in my junior year of college, my body just quit. I couldn’t keep food down and started losing weight. I wasn’t able to finish the semester and ended up practically living in the emergency room and doctors’ offices.

Eventually the correct test was run that showed at least part of what was going on with me, but no clue as to the ultimate cause and therefore treatment. I was put on a bunch of medications just to help me keep some food down. But I was only able to be awake for three groggy hours per day.

I spent the next four years getting sicker and sicker and searching in dozens of doctors offices for the answer – and the cure.

I went through batteries of tests and took dangerous, side-effect laden drugs. The tests often revealed abnormalities, but nothing close to a clear diagnosis. And I desperately wanted a diagnosis! I needed to know “what was the matter with me” so that I could “fix it.”

Eventually I got more sick and a diagnosis became clear. I was told I had a severe version of autonomic dysfunction, an illness, I was told, that had caused permanent damage to the peripheral nerves in my autonomic nervous system, making it struggle to function.

And the autonomic nervous system is important. At the point of my diagnosis, my resting heart rate was over 180. My blood pressure was often under 100/60. I couldn’t walk or stand, and often couldn’t even sit up, without losing consciousness. I had digestive problems, breathing problems, vision problems, and a bunch of other scary stuff.

Then, I went from bad to worse and quickly ended up in a wheelchair where I stayed for nearly 3 years.

I was scared and even my doctors were scared. There was a point I remember when it was unclear what the prognosis was and whether this illness would claim my life. I remember seeing how scared my wife was, but being too weak to comfort her.

So I kept taking the medications I was prescribed and laid there doing, well, not a heck of a lot. I remember questioning whether I just needed to accept that this was my life and learn to flourish within my limitations.

The years passed by and I stayed sick and I stayed still.

I fought and fought.

I sought better diagnoses and treatments from all of the best doctors. I was not going to give in to this illness; I was not going to lose.

The more I fought the worse it got, but everyone around me kept telling me that I couldn’t give up, that this just couldn’t be how my life turned out.

I remember being so tired and not understanding the concept that was constantly being thrust on me that “I didn’t deserve this;” the idea that “this just couldn’t be how things are.”

I remember being confused. So there are some people who are sick who deserve their illness? And if I don’t accept that I am sick, then I won’t be sick?

My life had become filled with walls and boundaries over which I could not and would not pass.

I didn’t have a degree. I didn’t have a job. I had, what I felt, was a broken body and a broken life…

It was then that I decided to ask for help from a Higher Power.

I went to sleep that night hoping to be shown the answer. And I was.

Remarkably, the answer that I sought to help me get better had been with me all along.

In my dream that night, I remember clearly being told to go learn more about Reiki and fully use it to heal myself. And so I did just that.

You see, I had originally learned Reiki when I was just a teenager and was already a Level II Practitioner. I did use Reiki all the time – on others.

With family, animals and friends I was always there with a “Reiki hand” or two. But self-practice was not a big part of my previous Reiki training. Beyond giving myself Reiki for the first 30 days after my attunements, I was told that “giving yourself Reiki is kind of like trying to tickle yourself – not very effective.”

Luckily, with my dream, I was guided to seek out Reiki Master training and use it to heal myself. I was able to find a wonderful, credible online course and teacher, which was important considering I was housebound, and I completed the Reiki Master training. (And since then, I have gone on to train with multiple other Reiki teachers, both in-person and via a distance.)

Most importantly I learned that doing self-Reiki is incredibly effective! In fact, it’s the most important thing I do every day.

As I began walking the path that leads to Reiki mastership, I became more wholly myself. 

Already Practice Reiki? Already a Healer? That’s Great!

I’ve also learned many other healing modalities, including other forms of hands-on energy healing, chakra healing, crystal healing, color and sound therapies, hypnosis, and how to heal with the angels and spiritual beings.

I love learning from new Reiki Teachers and collecting new tools for my healer’s toolkit! I know that the effort I put into broadening my Reiki training and whatever skills I take the time to learn and master, don’t just benefit me, they benefit my clients (and my family), too.

That’s why I always encourage my Reiki and other healing students to:

• Learn whatever they feel drawn to
• Study with different teachers, even of the same discipline
• Learn various modalities
• Become an eclectic healer

But what that really means is, “Become the best healer you can be – and only you can be. Become the healer you were born to be.”

What Style of Reiki Do You Teach? What are the Benefits?

You may or may not have noticed that there are a few different styles, or “schools,” of Reiki.

I teach Usui/Tibetan Reiki Ryoho. This is actually not the original school of Reiki in which I was trained. (FYI: I originally learned Usui Shiki Ryoho. I also teach some specialized forms of Reiki where standard Reiki training is a prerequisite.)

The Usui/Tibetan Reiki Ryoho system of Reiki was largely popularized by Reiki Teacher William Rand, who is also one of my personal Reiki Teachers.

Most modern Reiki Teachers have been influenced by this style of Reiki because it is now one of the most widespread and prevalent Reiki systems.

I have chosen to teach this style of Reiki because:

• It’s filled with so many wonderful techniques and healing methods

What Is a Reiki Attunement?

This means that anybody, from children to the elderly, including those who are differently-abled, can learn how to channel, or flow, Reiki. There’s no special skill involved in sharing Reiki. From day one, the Reiki begins to flow and only gets stronger the more the practitioner uses it. It’s a skill that can’t be lost, even after long stretches of not practicing. All that is necessary to activate the flow of Reiki is to place your hands on yourself or another living being with the intention of flowing the Reiki. And just like riding a bike, you’re back in business!

While no special skill may be involved in simply channeling Reiki, practicing Reiki professionally, and even proficiently with friends and family, does indeed require training and skills. And being a good Reiki Teacher requires even greater levels of proficiency. That’s where quality training comes in. So while the attunement is amazing and allows the student to begin to experience and share Reiki immediately, it is just the beginning – the very beginning – of the Reiki journey. 

To be clear a Reiki attunement – whether in-person or via a distance – does not make a Reiki practitioner. Only someone who’s been attuned and properly trained in the practice of Reiki is qualified to be a Reiki practitioner or Teacher. There’s just no substitute!

How Does a Reiki Attunement Work Over a Distance?

I prefer to only give real-time distance attunements. This means an attunement where I connect directly with my student(s) at a mutually agreed upon time. I personally feel that this way of doing it is both very effective and honors the sacred nature of the process.

My distance attunements work exactly the same as in-person attunements. The only difference is that I begin by using Reiki to transcend time and space to connect with you, a step that’s not necessary in an in-person attunement.

Attunements can be an intense spiritual experience. Luckily, during the attunement, we’re joined by Reiki guides and other spiritual beings who assist the process and are there to support you, and me, too!

I use an attunement process wherein universal spiritual consciousness makes modifications to my student’s chakras and energy pathways and links them to the Reiki source. As I said, this allows you to start channeling Reiki – right away. You are then able to access Reiki for the rest of your life because the Reiki attunement is permanent.

It may sound complicated now, but it is really so simple and elegant in the way that it all comes together. Dr. Hayashi
, one of the earliest Reiki teachers, described it to his student, Madam Takata, so beautifully when he said:

“The universal life force is so big we cannot measure it, so deep
 we cannot fathom it; therefore in Japanese we call it Reiki. It is comparable to a radio station broadcasting
 radio waves everywhere. There are no wires connecting
 the radio station with your home, yet when you turn on the 
receiver and tune into the radio waves from the station you receive what they are sending. Likewise, the principles of Reiki are the same. The energy is everywhere; it travels through space without wires. Once you have been connected to the energy, it flows automatically, forever. It is a universal and immeasurable energy and its power is unlimited.”

Will I Receive a “Real” Reiki Attunement During This Course?

You’ll be able to schedule your first Reiki attunement after the release of Reiki Level I, Module 2.

Who am I to be a Reiki healer? Or Teacher? Who am I to fulfill my soul’s calling?

Let me answer that question with another question: Who are you NOT to?

You were put here on this planet, at this moment in time, for a very specific reason. And if you feel called to be, a Reiki practitioner, a healer, a Teacher – in any capacity – then I’m pretty sure it’s to do just that.

Over the years I’ve noticed a funny thing happening in the Reiki community. Where people think it’s just too good to be true. That being a healer is a “dream.” Why them?

But the reality is there are way more people on this planet that have zero interest in being a healer than those that do want to be healers. Think about it. And aren’t there tons of things that you have no interest in doing either?

So the fact that you want it – at a soul level – means it’s for you.

And no one but you can keep it from you. It’s totally up to you if you want to embrace your soul’s desire and start taking the steps towards living your purpose.

If you do, I’m here to support you on that journey. It may not be the easiest journey you’ll ever take, but damn, it will be one of the most fulfilling things you will ever do in this life.

What if I Don’t Like the Course?

Why Should I Become a Reiki Master? Why Not Just Become a Reiki Practitioner?

You know, when I was deciding how I wanted to put together my online Reiki courses, one of the most important things that I was guided to create and offer was a complete and comprehensive Reiki Master training program.

So, as you know by now, I also offer the Certified Reiki Practitioner Course for students who just aren’t quite ready to commit to Reiki Master training – which is absolutely fine. But I wanted to share with you how the Certified Reiki Master Course works and why it may be the perfect option for you…

Becoming a Reiki Master isn’t just about learning how to teach Reiki. It’s so much more!

During the Certified Reiki Master Course, you’ll gain so many more skills than you do in the Practitioner Course. And these are skills that you can use as a practitioner with your clients and with yourself and family. These include:

While there’s nothing wrong with becoming a Reiki practitioner and stopping your training there, there are just too many benefits to being a Reiki Master to not pass it on to as many of my students as possible!

Please know, that if you already know you want to teach Reiki, that’s great! You’ll receive all of the training you need to be a great Reiki Teacher. 

But if you don’t feel called to be a Teacher, that’s totally okay, too. There’s never any pressure. And if at some point in the future you do what to teach, you’ll be all set to do so! Not wanting to teach doesn’t make you any less entitled to become a Reiki Master and is actually really common.

Also, while being a Reiki Master is often considered a big responsibility, now is the time for each of us to embrace that level of commitment. The world is changing – and so are we – and we are all in need of deep healing, on the personal, as well as global, level. 

There’s no time to wait to embrace your full Reiki destiny. And there’s no longer a need to reserve the higher levels of Reiki training for a select few. 

Now, just in case you’ve heard anything about the “pressure” of being a Reiki Master, just breathe it out. Ahh…There, that’s better!

Let me assure you that all you need to be a great Reiki Master is a commitment to keep learning all that Reiki has to show you, to keep working on your own healing, and a strong desire to be of service to others. 

There is absolutely no need to be perfect or enlightened. 

Reiki is a come as you are system. It will help you get from where you are to where you’re meant to be! You don’t need to show up already fully evolved. Where would be the fun in that!

So if you feel called to Reiki, and want to be a great healer while healing yourself, then becoming a Reiki Master is for you.

With those benefits in mind, I put some other benefits in action during the creation of this course 

First, I wanted to make sure that you have plenty of time to complete all the levels of your training so that you would honor your investment and commitment. 

That’s why you have 18 months to finish your certification, so you can take time in-between levels if you feel guided to do so and want to let your energy integrate after each attunement. Of course, if you follow along at the set-pace for the course, there’s plenty of time for your energy to do that, too. But it’s totally up to you!

This is also why I divided the course up into the individual levels common to comparable in-person training. And it’s also why I knew I had to give you personal, individual attunements for each level of Reiki, unlike so many other online Reiki offerings. 

Many online Reiki Teachers offer a “singular Master attunement” which is just one attunement that’s designed to take you straight to the Reiki Master Level. I, too, have been trained to do these, though I don’t use them. 

While I’m not saying that these don’t work, I’m not sure that they’re the best choice for the majority of students. 

Most of us benefit greatly from the slower progression of energetic upgrades offered by multiple attunements. 

It’s the model that’s been in use for decades, and it’s the one I trust and choose for my students. 

Second, offering a single Reiki Master course lets me offer it to you at a substantial discount since you’re paying for all of your training up front. That lets you go further with quality training for less of an investment.

As these people are waking up, they’re looking for support and systems that are going to help them to keep raising their energy, heal and release the old vibrations, and integrate the new, higher vibrations.

Reiki is the perfect system to do just that – and has been helping millions of people with that evolution for nearly 100 years.

It’s comparatively easy to learn, doesn’t interfere with existing beliefs, is perfect for healing yourself, and is deeply relaxing. This makes it incredibly empowering, which is something that most people are looking for in what feels like uncertain times.

As a Reiki Teacher you can help to awaken people to their own inherent power, giving them a sense of control and peace.

You can share with them a tool that helps them to fully release their own anger and worry, instead of recycling it back into the world.
