receiving energy practice for chakra healing

Why Receiving Energy Is Harder Than Giving It for Many Healers

Receiving energy as a healer is often harder than giving it — even if no one talks about it.

— even if no one talks about it. If you’ve ever done a big healing session…

Balanced your chakras.
Moved some serious energy.
Felt light, focused, and powerful.

…only to immediately get up and start making dinner…

There’s a reason for that.

For a long time, I thought I needed more healing.

More grounding.
More balancing.
More energetic “maintenance.”

And while those things absolutely have their place, what I’ve been remembering lately is this:

Giving energy is active.
Receiving energy is vulnerable.

Most healers are much better at one than the other.

Why Receiving Energy as a Healer Feels Harder Than Giving

Energy healing gives us something to do.

We:

• sweep
• send Reiki or energy
• move stagnant energy
• rebalance a chakra
• draw symbols
• visualize light

There is movement.
There is direction.
There is a sense of agency.

It feels powerful.

However, receiving energy asks something very different of us.

Receiving requires us to stop.

It asks us to let energy land.
It asks us to let the nervous system settle instead of immediately thinking, “Okay… what’s next?”

If you’ve been in long-term vigilance — even subtly — that can feel edgy.

A Nervous System Reality Check

When your body has been in “on” mode for a while — whether from stress, responsibility, caretaking, or simply being a sensitive human in a loud world — your nervous system adapts.

It becomes very good at activation.

You get efficient at:

• responding
• fixing
• scanning
• adjusting
• helping

Giving energy fits beautifully into that wiring.

Receiving energy does not.

Receiving asks the body to soften.

Yet softening only feels safe when the nervous system believes it is safe.

This is not spiritual weakness.
It is biology.

After a deep chakra healing session, your heart rate may be lower. Your breathing may be slower. Your system may be more open and relaxed.

If you immediately rush into the next task, you can feel that shift. Sometimes it even creates a slight head rush. Energetically, it can feel like you left something unfinished.

Not broken.
Not wrong.

Just… not fully settled.

Why This Matters in Chakra Healing

When we balance and heal a chakra but do not pause to let the energy integrate, the system can remain slightly open.

Again, nothing is damaged. However, something subtle is missing.

Think about watering a plant.

You can give it the perfect amount of water. That part is essential.

But if you keep disturbing the soil immediately afterward, the roots do not get a chance to absorb what they were given.

Giving healing is the watering.
Receiving is the absorption.

Both are necessary for healthy growth.

This is especially true in chakra healing. When energy has been moved, the body needs time to register that shift.

Integration happens in stillness.

A Small Receiving Practice You Can Try This Week

Here is something I have been experimenting with lately.

After any energy practice — whether Reiki, chakra healing, or meditation — do not get up right away.

Instead, set a timer for two minutes.

Place one hand on your lower belly.
Place one hand on your heart.

No symbols.
No visualization.
No technique.

Simply hold this gentle intention:

“It is safe to let this settle.”

Then breathe slowly.

If your mind starts planning dinner or reorganizing your to-do list, gently return to your breath.

That is it.

You are not doing Reiki or energy healing.

You are allowing it to integrate.

It sounds simple. However, for many healers, it is surprisingly uncomfortable.

That discomfort is often a sign that receiving energy is the next layer of growth.

Giving Energy Healing Is a Skill. Receiving Is a Practice.

Most healer trainings focus heavily on how to move energy.

Fewer emphasize how to receive energy and let it land.

Inside the Certified Chakra Healing Practitioner course, we intentionally work with grounding, opening, clearing, and consciously closing sessions so that chakra healing feels complete rather than scattered.

Still, you do not need a full certification to begin practicing receiving.

You simply need a willingness to pause.

And perhaps a gentle reminder that your body does not need to earn its rest.

A Loving Nudge

If you notice that you are excellent at helping, clearing, sending, and adjusting…

Yet slightly resistant to softening and receiving…

You are not alone.

Receiving energy is often the deeper work.

And it might just be the next layer of your chakra healing journey — not because something is wrong, but because something is finally ready to settle.

With chakra hugs,
