How Reiki Can Help You Relax and Why That Matters
Reiki: The Ultimate Relaxation Solution
But one of the most awesome things about Reiki is how relaxing it is! I’ve had a lot of people tell me that it is so much more relaxing than a massage. (And massages are, of course amazing, and have many proven benefits. In fact, massage therapists that incorporate Reiki into their practices often find that they can help clients relax much more deeply and with far less physical effort than before they were utilizing Reiki.)
Why Is Relaxation So Important?
The value of relaxation cannot be underestimated. When you are able to properly and fully relax, your body goes into “rest and digest” mode.
Reiki, whether from a self-session or from a practitioner, changes things in your body. You’re choosing to climb out of the chronic “stress soup” in which you’re used to simply surviving. This is because Reiki gives the keys to your parasympathetic nervous system. This is the opposite of your sympathetic nervous system i.e., the part of your autonomic nervous system that triggers the fight or flight response.
Once your parasympathetic nervous system gains control of the wheel, you begin to experience a state of relaxation, clarity and well-being.
What Kind of Benefits Can I Expect?
You are able to see and think clearly. You respond better to perceived or actual threats and can therefore avoid unnecessary conflicts. Behaving in ways that are both in line with and reflective of your core beliefs, becomes much easier. Now, you can see the big picture. And you find that you can be a better spouse, parent, child, sibling, friend and coworker.
Plus, your body digests your food better. Your immune system doesn’t overreact and attack your own body. Your hormones and blood pressure normalize. And your energy levels remain consistently high.
Reiki really can help you to find this balance. You can finally experience your life the way it’s meant to be lived.
I don’t know what I would do without Reiki. It has provided sanity to me in moments of serious distress. And it has seen me through to the other side of things that I didn’t think I would survive.
But everyday it helps me to relax. Deeply. And it’s that daily support that I couldn’t live without. So thank you to Reiki!
