How to Get Grounded in 4 Easy Steps

How to Get Grounded in 4 Easy Steps

Getting grounded helps to fortify your entire energy body, making it one of the most effective and easiest ways to improve your energetic health, and your life experience as a whole.

Unfortunately, a lot of people are going through their lives ungrounded and feeling pretty disconnected, and even lost, because of it. Maybe you even think you’re one of them…

Luckily, there’s no need to suffer from being ungrounded anymore because it’s super easy to get grounded! So let’s get you grounded – right now!

What Does it Mean to Be Grounded?

When you are grounded, you are connected to your body, your physical experience, the people, beings and environment around you, the here and now and the Earth herself. This state of being has an ease to it and feels really good.

However, when you’re ungrounded, you can feel spacey, disoriented and disconnected from yourself and those around you. This is not a beneficial state of being for anyone to be in, but if you’re a healer of any sort, including a Reiki practitioner, this is not an optimum place from which to do your sacred work.

Why Would I Want to Ground Myself?

Many of us in the spiritual and lightworker community can have a tendency to get sort of stuck in our upper chakras, the ones that focus on psychic and intuitive message and our connection to Spirit. And while it’s awesome to activate and develop these chakras, we are here on this planet, at this time to have a physical experience.

So when we’re not connected to our bodies and our environments, it can leave us feeling sort of “floopy,” or “off with the fairies,” as some say (which in my opinion sounds like fun, but I don’t think that’s how the statement is meant…). This leaves us less able to effectively complete our Divine missions here on Earth.

Plus, the Earth has some amazing qualities that our human bodies need. The Earth actually has her own magnetic fields. One of these is called the Schumann Resonance, which are ultra low frequency super beneficial electromagnetic waves that are strongest near the Earth’s surface. Being connected to this frequency is so vital, that NASA actual has equipment aboard all of their space shuttle to help mimic this waves so that the astronauts can stay healthy while away from Mama Earth!

These waves, quite interestingly, look very similar to human brain waves when we are calm and relaxed (like what appears during the alpha state). It appears that these waves have many purposes and help to regulate many bodily functions.

So while this discussion of Grounding is overlapping with the practice of Earthing, I do think that they possibly have a symbiotic, and at the very least complementary, relationship. You see, being disconnected energetically from the Earth and your physical surroundings, could, in my opinion, serve to block your connection from the physical Earth and all of the support that she has to offer.

This is why after you get spiritually Grounded, I then suggest that you go and get physically grounded by doing a bit of Earthing.

Ready to see how simple this is to do for yourself?

The Earth actually has her own magnetic fields. One of these is called the Schumann Resonance, which are ultra low frequency super beneficial electromagnetic waves that are strongest near the Earth’s surface.

So How Can I Ground Myself?

Step 1:

Either stand with feet shoulder width apart or sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor.

Then take a few deep breaths.

If you want to get two birds with one stone, you can optionally do this exercise barefoot, outside on grass or soil (not cement or concrete). After you complete the Grounding process, hang out with your bare feet on the ground for an extra 10 minutes.

Step 2:

Now as you breathe out, imagine that roots are extending from the bottoms of your feet, down into the Earth.

Step 3:

As you breathe in, imagine that you are breathing in the dense energy of the Earth herself, up through your feet, your legs, and all the way into your belly.

Feel how this energy makes you feel solid, stable, tethered to the ground, connected to your body, and your current time and location, as well as the Earth.

Each out breath extends your roots further into the Earth.

Every in breath draws up more grounding energy.

Step 4:

Keep breathing in this way until you feel sufficiently anchored to your body, your physical experience and the Earth.

Easy-peasy, right?

Now, if you didn’t do this exercise outside with bare feet on the ground, then you could go stand with your feet on the Earth, i.e., on grass or soil, for 10 to 15 minutes as soon as you can. Obviously, weather does not always permit this.

So know that by just doing the spiritual Grounding part of the exercise will indeed have drawn up real, physical Earth energy into your body and you’ll still be getting benefits! No worries!

Another quick way to ground yourself, especially if you’re feeling anxiety along with ungroundedness, is to hold your Reiki hands on the soles of your feet for a few minutes.

You can also draw the Power Symbol, if you have it, on the bottoms of your feet, but you don’t need to. You can also actively breathe the Reiki coming out of your hands in through the soles of your feet, but, once again, you don’t have to. You can just sit like this for a bit until you feel better. It works absolute wonders!

This is especially useful if you’re just starting to channel information, or get into spiritual or energetic practices, and tend to become ungrounded really easily. It will get you stable and right back in your body, ready to integrate any wisdom that you’ve received.

Thanks so much for reading here today.

I hope you enjoy getting grounded and experience all of the many benefit that this simple process has to offer. And I hope it inspires you to take the time to enjoy this physical life experience. There’s so much fun to have! So go get out there with your grounded self! 😉

So Reiki ON, my dear Reiki friends!

Wishing you peace, stability and many Reiki blessings,
