Can Reiki Help Me?
Can Reiki Help Me?
Are you looking for healing, relaxation, stress-relief or overall health and wellness support? Are you considering trying Reiki, but are asking yourself, “Can Reiki help me?”
Well, I may be able to help you find the answer to your question…
Reiki: An Effective Healing Method
As you may have discovered, Reiki is best known as a method of healing, whether it’s offered with hands-on or via distance. (If you aren’t familiar with what Reiki is, check this out: What is Reiki? ) And while this definition gives us a starting point, many people want to know more than that.
Hands down, the two questions I hear most often from those new to Reiki are these:
#1: How does Reiki work?
and I think, even more importantly,
#2: Can Reiki help me?
So Can Reiki Help ME?
I’ll answer the second question first…
So many people wonder whether Reiki is worth a try for them. In my experience, Reiki can benefit anyone.
Now, what this means exactly, varies from person to person. Healing and curing are two different things. Reiki is unique. It’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. There’s no diagnosis made. No prescription made. No pills to take. No exercises to do. No you to “fix.”
You are perfect and whole and your body, mind, and spirit all want to return to that state of natural health. You already know how. Simply put, Reiki can help you to remember how to be well.
Reiki brings you into balance so that you can find your perfect state of being. It supports you on every level; body, mind, and spirit. Reiki always provides you with exactly what you need.
Well, How Does Reiki Work?
It’s not always easy to explain how Reiki works to someone who doesn’t practice Reiki and who has never received it. I will say, it is truly best to experience a Reiki session for yourself because that will tell you far more than my mere words ever will. 😉
But over the years, I’ve tried a lot of definitions.
I often begin by saying,
“Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress-relief and relaxation that also promotes healing.”
This is a great starting point, but it leaves many people still wondering, still wanting more…
For those who are already metaphysically minded and want to understand things from a deeper perspective, I go on to explain how Reiki breaks up blockages in the energy field and clears the energy pathways that exist in our bodies.
Because you see, as a living being, you have life force energy flowing both through and around you. In your body, this life force energy supports all of your organs and cells.
When your life force energy levels are high, you experience good health. But when the healthy flow of life force energy is impeded in your body, there will be a lessened functioning in one or more of your organs or tissues.
Reiki is a system of healing that supports your energetic health, and therefore your physical, mental, and emotional health, as well, since they are all inextricably linked. It does this by flooding your body with spiritually guided life force energy.
With healthy life force energy flowing freely again, you will experience naturally good health, a positive mood and outlook, and normal energy levels. Reiki can also prevent future dis-ease by keeping your life force energy levels strong.
Makes sense, right?
Another approach I take when asked about Reiki is sharing an analogy that can really help to bring home the simple power of Reiki.
You are perfect and whole and your body, mind and spirit all want to return to that state of natural health. You already know how. Reiki can help you to remember how to be well.
A Different Way to Understand Reiki Healing
Imagine that there is a wonderful singer trying to sing a song but she can’t quite get the key right. So she asks to hear the note from her pianist. Now, it’s not that the singer isn’t capable of singing the note correctly, of course she is – she sells out concerts every weekend!
She just needs to be reminded of what “in key” sounds like in the midst of her noisy and tiring day. And once she has that starting point, she is able to sing her song beautifully and in key and receive all the accolades she deserves.
Receiving a Reiki session is like asking to hear the correct note from the pianist. Except during a Reiki session, a Reiki practitioner shares the energy with you (plays the note) and your body, upon feeling what healthy, balanced energy feels like, is able to emulate that energy itself (just like the singer singing back the “in key” note) and it can begin to balance and heal itself (finish the song beautifully).
Or, Here’s What Happens From a More “Technical” Point of View…
Interestingly, this analogy can be explained from a scientific view, too. Now, while science has not yet caught up to the healing technology of Reiki, strides are being made. And even with our current knowledge, there is an explanation for how Reiki works.
So when you share Reiki with yourself, or when the practitioner shares Reiki with her client, she is holding a very high vibration. The client’s vibration actually rises up to match this high vibration of Reiki. This process is called entrainment.
We see entrainment in nature and in life time and again. From the rhythmic swinging of clock pendulums to fireflies blinking in unison to frogs croaking and crickets chirping together to the menstrual cycles of woman who spend a lot of time together syncing up, just to name a few examples.
It is through this process of entrainment that the client’s entire being, including their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels, actually heals and balances itself. This is possible through a process called resonance in which one vibrating system, in this case, the practitioner sharing Reiki, can cause another system that vibrates at a similar frequency, the client, to vibrate, as well.
An important point to note is, that the high vibration that the Reiki practitioner is holding, is incapable of dropping to match the vibration of her client who may be experiencing dis-ease or stress. This is why I like to call Reiki a “one-way street” in the healing world. The energy only moves in one direction, and that’s towards all that is high, healthy and positive in nature.
Even the strongest of us get tired and rundown sometimes, even when we try to eat and live well. And many of us struggle with chronic illnesses and low energy levels. Allowing yourself to experience the gift of a Reiki session is allowing yourself to come back into balance and find true health and peace.
Just like the singer setting herself up for success and getting help with her starting note so she can finish successfully, don’t we all deserve to have someone share with us an energetic starting point so we can experience the type of wellness success that we all deserve?
A Healing Method with a Solid Track Record
Reiki has been in use for almost 100 years and during that time it has helped to heal almost every illness and injury in existence from headaches to heart disease.
But perhaps even more importantly it has helped countless people experience stress relief and relaxation. This has allowed their minds, bodies, and spirits, to come back into balance, and therefore, heal themselves.
Plus, Reiki is completely safe, has no adverse side effects, is suitable for all ages, doesn’t interfere with any medical treatments and feels sooo good!
So if you’re on the fence about Reiki I urge you to give it a try. I’ve never encountered anyone who’s been disappointed with or regretting receiving a treatment. People usually feel immediately relaxed, at peace, less sore, more energized and begin to sleep better.
In fact, a hospital run Reiki program* found that Reiki promoted:
- Deep relaxation
- Reduced anxiety
- Reduced muscle tension
- Reduced pain
- Accelerated wound healing
- Wellness
- A greater sense of well-being
- General health
- Better recovery from illness, injuries, and surgeries
Thanks so much for reading here today. Hopefully, you’ve found some clarity about Reiki. It is one of the most valuable things I’ve ever encountered. I sincerely hope you get to experience it for yourself and that you benefit from it as much as I have!
So Reiki ON, my dear Reiki friends!
Wishing you peace, joy, and many Reiki blessings,
