Your Heart Chakra: 5 Quick + Easy Tips to Heal Your Center of Love + Compassion
Could your heart chakra use some attention or support? Many people struggle with heart chakra issues. You may be one of them if you find you struggle with depression, often feel lonely or have a pattern codependent relationships.
Since the heart chakra allows you to give and receive love, act with compassion, as well as easily forgive, when this chakra gets out of balance, you can start to feel emotionally shut down, and even cold hearted. What’s worse is that this lack of much needed love, and frankly heart in your life, can leave all of your chakras suffering.
Fortunately, you can begin to take a few quick steps today to start giving some loving attention to your heart chakra, which will support the health of all your other chakras.
What are the Chakras?
The chakras are a part of the energy body, or system.
More specifically, the chakras are the seven main energy centers in the body that regulate and process the flow of life force energy in and around each of us. Each chakra is responsible for supplying energy to specific parts of the body, mind and emotions.

Where is the Heart Chakra Located?
The heart chakra is the fourth chakra. It is located in the middle of your chest, just above the physical heart.
It’s associated with the thymus gland.
Here’s a diagram that shows where the heart chakra is on the human body:
This chakra is also known as Anahata in Sanskrit. The meaning of Anahata is “unstruck note.”
What Does the Heart Chakra Do?
Your heart chakra is connected with your ability to love unconditionally and feel and act compassionately, as well as your level of acceptance, both for yourself and others. The health of this chakra greatly impacts how nurturing, trusting and supportive you’re able to be with others, as well as to yourself.
It also supplies energy to your heart, lungs, and circulatory system.
How Do I Know If My Heart Chakra Needs Support?
Signs of a balanced heart chakra include being open hearted, having a healthy level of empathy and a general sense of serenity about you. If you don’t feel that this describes your life experience, your heart chakra could probably use some support.
If you’re still unsure, consider the following questions:
- Do people find you to be critical and demanding?
- Are you often really impatient, i.e., “a hothead,” or are you so patient that you get taken advantage of, i.e., “a doormat?”
- Do you find it hard to apologize?
- Do you tend to hold a grudge?
- Do you have any heart or lung issues, such as high blood pressure or asthma?
If you answered yes to one or more of the questions above, one of the following heart chakra health tips could be really helpful.
Your heart chakra is connected with your ability to love unconditionally and feel and act compassionately, as well as your level of acceptance, both for yourself and others.
What Can I Do to Support My Heart Chakra?
Ooh! I’m so glad you asked! 😉
While chakra healing is a comprehensive field, that doesn’t mean you can’t get your heart chakra some much needed TLC-C (tender loving chakra-care) TODAY. In fact, here’s some quick and easy steps to get you started.
Let me show you how easy it can be!
Tip # 1: Make Friends with a Yantra
Each chakra has a sacred symbol that represents it, called a yantra.
Here is the yantra for the heart chakra:
Gazing upon this yantra in meditation will help to clear, strengthen and fortify your heart chakra.
You can start by looking at this image with a very soft focus to your eyes. Don’t stare intently, just relax. You can start with as little as one to two minutes, and work you way up to ten or more.
Tip # 2: Tap into the Energy of GREEN (or PINK)
The heart chakra is super special because it has not one, but TWO colors with which it is associated. Both the color green and a nice rosey pink are connected with the heart chakra.
This means that wearing the colors green or pink can actually support your heart chakra. So throw on a bold green sweater or a flirty pink dress and start infuse your body, mind and soul with love and compassion!
If you don’t want to wear green or pink, you can simply gaze at one of these colors, such as a green plant or a pink flower, a green or pink wall or even a piece of green or pink construction paper. Anywhere that you can find one of these colors to look at will do just fine.
Tip # 3: Harness the Power of Crystal Healing
You can work with a crystal that supports the health of the heart chakra. Good choices include:
- Emerald
- Malachite
- Rose Quartz
- Pink Tourmaline
But keep in mind that there are a bunch more choices available. Simply follow your intuition to find the crystal that is right for you.
Once, you’ve got your crystal all picked out, you can hold the crystal in your hand and “breathe” in the energy of the stone.
Or, you can lie on your back and place the crystal directly on your heart chakra, in the middle of the chest, just above the physical heart. As you lie with the stone, do so with the intention of supporting that chakra.
If you’re new to crystal healing start with five to ten minutes, and then gradually build up to 20 minutes of this practice.
Tip # 4: Do the Thymus Thump!
A great way to increase the health of your heart chakra is by boosting the functioning of the thymus gland. The thymus gland, as I shared above, is the endocrine gland that is associated with the heart chakra.
The thymus gland is situated between the throat and heart chakra in the center of the chest. It is a twin lobed organ that is responsible for producing infection fighting white blood cells.
To do the thymus thump, gently tap 20 to 30 times on your chest using a soft fist over the location of the thymus, while breathing deeply. Or, if you practice Reiki, place one of your hands over this position while channeling Reiki for several minutes, once again while breathing deeply.
It’s that easy!
This simple technique can help maintain and boost your immune system while filling your body with vitality and supporting your heart chakra.
Tip # 5: Work with the Magic of a Healing Affirmation
You can also use an affirmation to support the health of your heart chakra.
Here’s a healing affirmation for your heart chakra:
“I am able to give and receive love. Compassion, forgiveness and hope fill my heart.”
You can repeat this affirmation, either out loud or silently to yourself, while meditating. Or, you can just say it whenever you feel like it, supporting your heart chakra, and all its many functions, throughout your day.
While you speak or think the affirmation, envision your heart chakra as clear of blockages, spinning freely, and as a beautiful, bright green color.
Stopping to visualize your heart chakra as healthy, while supporting it with loving, encouraging words throughout the day, is one of the fastest and most effective ways to make a difference in its functioning.
That’s it!
I really hope you feel inspired to try out as many of these tips as often as you can. And when you do, you can expect to see a difference in the weeks to come. Remember that just as with any practice or goal, consistency is key. And doesn’t your heart chakra deserve lots of loving support?

- Kindness levels

- And more!
