Chakras: What They Are and Why They Matter

Are you curious about your chakras? Are you ready to discover what they are, and how they affect your health? Well, that’s great, because supporting the health of your chakras actually holds incredible benefits for every aspect of your life. So let’s explore the chakras!

What are the Chakras?

Did you know that there’s so much more to our bodies, and our health, than meets the eye?

In fact, we’re much more than just our experience of our physical bodies. And sometimes when we don’t pay attention to these other parts of ourselves, it can feel like we’re doing everything right, and yet, we’re still not feeling or experiencing life the way we’d like to be.

You see, every living being is actually made up of energy. Some of this energy is very dense. And it’s this densest of energy that makes up the physical body. This energy is easily perceived by us.

But there are other aspects of our anatomy that are not as easy for us to perceive.

While these aspects may be more difficult for us to perceive, they do exist. And their health influences our life experiences just as much as our physical bodies’ health does.

These components, that are less dense and that are vibrating faster than the energy that makes up the physical body, are what comprise the energy body, or system. The chakras are a part of this energy system.

More specifically, the chakras are the seven main energy centers in the body that regulate and process the flow of life force energy in and around each of us. Each chakra is responsible for supplying energy to specific parts of the body, mind and emotions.

What is Life Force Energy and Why is it Important?

Life force energy is the non-physical, all pervasive energy that gives life to all living things. Life force energy is also known as Chi, Ki, Prana, Mana, or Holy Spirit.

How freely and strongly life force energy is flowing through us impacts our well-being and all aspects of our lives.

So when you have a chakra that is blocked up, and isn’t flowing energy well, or is leaking energy, it can leave you feeling tired, cranky and stuck. Or worse, physically or mentally ill.

The chakras are the seven main energy centers in the body that regulate and process the flow of life force energy in and around each of us.

What Are the Chakras and Where Are they Located?

The Crown Chakra is the seventh chakra. It is located on the top of our head.

The Third Eye Chakra is the sixth chakra. It is located in the middle of our forehead, just above our eyebrows.

The Throat Chakra the fifth chakra. It is located right over our throat.

The Heart Chakra is the fourth chakra. It is located in the center our our chest, just above our heart.

The Solar Plexus Chakra is the third chakra. It is located in our upper abdomen.

The Sacral Chakra is the second chakra. It is located in our lower belly.

The Root Chakra is the first chakra. It is located at the base of our spine.

 

How Do Our Chakras Affect Us?

Our chakras impact every aspect of our lives:

The Root Chakra is connected with our ability to survive, as well as our sense of stability and security in our lives. The health of this chakra greatly impacts our strength, stamina and adrenal function. It also supplies energy to our bones and teeth.

The Sacral Chakra impacts our sense of creativity, as well as the expression of our sexuality and our ability to experience pleasure. The health of this chakra influences anything to do with fertility. It also supplies energy to our reproductive organs and the bladder.

The Solar Plexus Chakra influences our self-esteem and our capacity to feel empowered. The health of this chakra greatly impacts our digestive health, as well as anything to do with the muscles of our body.

The Heart Chakra is connected with our capacity to give and receive love, as well our our ability to feel compassion. The health of this chakra impacts the health of our heart and lungs. It also affects the efficiency of our circulation.

The Throat Chakra influences our all aspects of our communication. This includes anything to do with self-expression. The health of this chakra impacts the health of our throat, ears and mouth. It also impacts our thyroid function.

The Third Eye Chakra is linked with our experience of intuition. The health of this chakra informs the health of our central nervous system. It’s also linked with the anything to do with our eyes and vision.

The Crown Chakra is associated with our sense of spirituality and our experience of Divine connection. The health of this chakra influences our cerebral cortex. It also informs the health of our skin.

As you can see, our chakras impact and influence every part of our physical, mental, emotional health.

So chakra health is…health health.

What Can I Do to Improve the Health of My Chakras?

We all have chakras, yet so many of us ignore them, along with our energetic and vibrational health.

And it’s understandable. I mean, there are so many worldly pressures seemingly pushing down upon usbills to pay, dinner to cook, houses to clean, kids to take care of, bosses to deal with…

But what so many don’t realize is that by working to heal the chakras, and improving our energetic, as well as overall health, all of that other other stuff becomes…So. Much. Easier.

The blocks get cleared and released.

You can think clearly and finally see your life from a different perspective.

Your stress level drops and your mood improves.

And your energy levels, well, let’s just say, with all of those blocks out of the way and your life force flowing high, you’ll have plenty of energy for all the things that matter to you.

Plus, you’ll actually be able to discern what matters, and what you can let just fall away. Talk about getting your priorities straight!

If all of this sounds really far from where you’re currently at, don’t feel bad. You’re not alone.

Nearly all of us could use some tender, loving chakra care every now and then, or better yet, on a regular basis. However, chakra healing may be of great benefit to you, if you are:

  • Feeling stressed, frazzled or overwhelmed
  • Having trouble concentrating
  • Experiencing any sort of physical illness, symptoms or discomfort
  • Feeling stuck – in your job, your relationship, your life
  • Feeling like there’s something more to life
  • Having trouble manifesting the things you desire
  • Having trouble finding joy and fulfillment in the things that you have manifested
  • Feeling unbalanced and blocked up
  • Yearning for a spiritual connection

It can help you to release the blocks that are keeping you from living your best life and get you feeling calmer, happier and balanced.
