How’s your third eye chakra doing? In many people, this important chakra is sadly ignored. This could be true for you if you feel like your intuition isn’t as strong as you’d like it to be or if you have trouble visualizing things.
Since the third eye chakra allows you to connect with your intuition, helps to ignite your imagination, as well as access spiritual guidance, when this chakra gets out of balance, you can end of feeling lost and unclear. To make matters worse, this lack of clarity can make it hard to tend to the rest of your chakras.
Luckily, you can begin to take a few quick steps today to start giving some care to your third eye chakra and supporting the health of your entire chakra system.
What are the Chakras?
The chakras are a part of the energy body, or system.
More specifically, the chakras are the seven main energy centers in the body that regulate and process the flow of life force energy in and around each of us. Each chakra is responsible for supplying energy to specific parts of the body, mind and emotions.

Where is the Third Eye Chakra Located?
The third eye chakra is the sixth chakra. It is located in the middle of your forehead, just above your eyebrows.
It’s associated with both the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus.
Here’s a diagram showing where the third eye chakra is on the human body:
This chakra is also known as Ajna in Sanskrit. The meaning of Ajna is “to perceive or know.”
What Does the Third Eye Chakra Do?
Your third eye chakra is connected with your abilities of perception and your mental strength, as well as how psychic you feel. The health of this chakra greatly impacts multiple aspects of life, from whether or not you feel safe succeeding in life, to if you have bright, vivid dreams.
It also supplies energy to your eyes and vision, as well as your central nervous system.
How Do I Know If My Third Eye Chakra Needs Support?
Signs of a balanced third eye chakra include being highly intuitive, charismatic and non-materialistic. If you don’t feel that this describes your life experience, then your third eye chakra could probably use some support.
If you’re still unsure, consider the following questions:
- Do you have trouble imagining or visualizing?
- Would many people describe you as being opinionated or domineering?
- Do you struggle with concentration or have you had any struggles with learning?
- Do you get frequent headaches and/or migraines?
If you answered yes to one or more of the questions above, then consider trying out one of the following third eye chakra health tips.

What Can I Do to Support My Third Eye Chakra?
While chakra healing is a comprehensive field, you can start to bring healing and balance into your third eye chakra TODAY by taking some quick and easy steps.
You may just be surprised by how easy it can be!
Tip # 1: Tap into the Energy of INDIGO
The third eye chakra is associated with the color indigo. Indigo is a color that lies somewhere between blue and violet on the color spectrum, but it essentially looks like dark blue.
This means that wearing the color indigo can actually support your third eye chakra. So why not don a fetching indigo sweater or scarf and start feeling those psychic juices flowing!
If you don’t want to wear indigo, you can simply gaze at the color, such an indigo wall, or even an indigo crayon or colored pencil. Anywhere that you can find some indigo to look at will work perfectly.
Tip # 2: Take an Essential Oil Escape
A great way to increase the health of your third eye chakra is with the help of aromatherapy. Lavender essential oil is my favorite for this use.
Now, I always dilute it in a carrier oil before use because it is too strong for my skin otherwise. You could use almond oil, sesame oil, even olive oil (although this does have its own rather strong smell), or whatever carrier oil you prefer and have on hand.
Take roughly six to ten drops of carrier oil in one of your palms and add just one drop of lavender oil. Then rub your hands together. If this dilution still feels too strong, then just add some more carrier oil. Always listen to your body and remember, safety first! 😊
Then, you’re going to anoint your third eye chakra, just above your eyebrows and in the center of your forehead, with this lavender essential oil mixture. To anoint means to rub some of the oil on with sacred intention.
Next, inhale the scent deeply off your palms. If you wish, you can even rub a little of the oil mixture on your temples, as it’s great for dissolving tension.
Now it’s time to sit back, inhale the lavender scent and go inside your mind. Set the intention to be open to having any blocks around your third eye chakra dissolve. Intend that you are willing to receive all of the gifts that come from having a balanced and healthy third eye chakra. Just relax and let the healing unfold.
Do this regularly and expect results!
Tip # 3: Harness the Power of Crystal Healing
You can work with a crystal that supports the health of the third eye chakra. Great choices include:
- Lapis Lazuli
Keep in mind that there are many more choices available. Just follow your intuition to find the crystal that is right for you.
Once, you’ve got your crystal all picked out, you can hold the crystal in your hand and “breathe” in the energy of the stone.
Or, you can lie on your back and place the crystal directly on your third eye chakra, in the middle of the forehead, just above the eyebrows. As you lie with the stone, do so with the intention of supporting that chakra.
If you’re new to crystal healing start with five to ten minutes, and then gradually build up to 20 minutes of this practice.
Tip # 4: Work with the Magic of a Healing Affirmation
You can also use an affirmation to support the health of third eye chakra.
Here’s a healing affirmation for your third eye chakra:
“I am guided by my intuition and in touch with my higher self. I can see clearly and I radiate love and integrity.”
You can repeat this affirmation, either out loud or silently to yourself, while meditating. Or, you can just say it whenever you feel like it, supporting your third eye chakra, and all its many functions, throughout your day.
While you speak or think the affirmation, envision your third eye chakra as clear of blockages, spinning freely, and as a beautiful, indigo, or deep blue, color.
Stopping to visualize your third eye chakra as healthy, while supporting it with loving, encouraging words throughout the day, is one of the fastest and most effective ways to make a difference in its functioning.
Tip # 5: Make Friends with a Yantra
Each chakra has a sacred symbol that represents it, called a yantra.
Here is the yantra for the third eye chakra:Gazing upon this yantra in meditation will help to clear, strengthen and fortify your third eye chakra.
You can start by looking at this image with a very soft focus to your eyes. Don’t stare intently, just relax. You can start with as little as one to two minutes, and work your way up to ten or more.
Now, do as many of these tips as often as you can, and expect to see a difference in the weeks to come. Keep in mind, just like with any practice or goal, consistency is key. And doesn’t your third eye chakra deserve some love and support?
